AQL Calculator

AQL Sampling Simulator for Product Inspection

Use this QIS AQL calculator to estimate sample size, accept point and reject point before booking a China pre-shipment inspection.

What is AQL?

AQL means Acceptable Quality Limit. In product inspection, AQL helps buyers decide how many units should be inspected and how many defects can be accepted before a shipment is rejected or reworked.

This online simulator is for planning and communication. Final sampling method and acceptance criteria should be confirmed in your QIS booking form before inspection.

Table A

How to read Table A: lot size to code letter.

Find your order quantity in the Lot Size column, then cross-reference it with your chosen inspection level. The result is the sample size code letter used in Table B.

Example: a shipment of 4,000 units at General Inspection Level II gives code letter L.

Table B

How to read Table B: code letter to sample size and accept/reject points.

Use the code letter from Table A to find the sample size. Then find the selected AQL level to see the Ac/Re result. Ac means the maximum accepted defect count. Re means the reject point.

Example: code letter L at AQL 2.5 gives sample size 200, Ac 10 and Re 11.

Note: The table is provided for normal single sampling reference. For formal inspection, QIS will apply the inspection level, AQL limits and any product-specific checklist confirmed in the booking form.

Example

Example: 4,000 units, General Level II.

For a shipment quantity of 4,000 units at General Inspection Level II, the calculator gives code letter L and a sample size of 200 units. With Major AQL 2.5, the shipment normally passes if major defects are 10 or fewer, and fails at 11 or more.

Critical defects

Usually not allowed. Any safety, legal or severe compliance issue can lead to rejection.

Major defects

Issues affecting function, appearance, buyer use or Amazon customer satisfaction.

Minor defects

Small cosmetic issues that do not affect normal use, but still need clear limits.

FAQ

AQL questions buyers often ask.

What AQL should I use for Amazon FBA products?

Many consumer goods inspections use Critical 0, Major 2.5 and Minor 4.0 as a practical starting point. Higher-risk products may need stricter limits.

Does AQL mean every product is checked?

No. AQL is a sampling method. If you need every unit checked, ask for 100% inspection or sorting.

What happens if the batch fails AQL?

You can ask the supplier to rework goods, replace defective units, hold shipment, negotiate compensation or book re-inspection.

Can QIS check labels and packaging together with AQL?

Yes. QIS can combine AQL product sampling with FNSKU labels, carton labels, polybag warning, barcode readability and packaging checks.
